Hückel Villas
The complex of Hückel's villas consists of four buildings - Hugo Hückel's villa, Hans Hückel's villa, August Hückel's villa and Johann Hückel's villa. The Hugo and Hans villas have been renovated, the former housing a kindergarten and the latter a children's home. The other two villas, the villas of Augustin and Johann Hückel, have had no use in the last decade and have begun to deteriorate. In 2016, the town bought both listed villas into its ownership and is trying to gradually save them.
The history of the villas of Augustin and Johann Hückel dates back to the period between 1880 and 1882, when the villas were built according to a design by the Viennese architect Otto Thienemann, a graduate of the local Technical University and the Academy of Fine Arts. The villas are a mirrored pair of buildings with corner towers, each of which was occupied by one of the Hückel brothers. After World War II, the houses served as a children's convalescent home and hospital ward.
The villas are surrounded by a public park through which visitors can get from Revoluční Street to the popular Lesopark Skalka or to the aforementioned Sady Kindergarten.
