Tourist information center Of Nový Jičín

The Tourist Information Centre

The Tourist Information Centre (hereinafter the TIC) in Nový Jičín was opened in 1993. It is part of the Nový Jičín Municipal Authority, Visitor’s Centre of Nový Jičín – Town of Hats. The Nový Jičín Information Centre is located on Masaryk Square in Laudon House.

The Nový Jičín TIC has been an official tourist information centre since 2003 and is a certified CzechTourism Headquarters.

Its primary mission is to realise tourist information activities and promote the town of Nový Jičín in the Czech Republic and abroad.

The TIC provides general information about the town and its surrounding area, information about sports and cultural events, train and bus links and a database of companies and enterprises. It also helps visitors to and residents of Nový Jičín assure the required tourism-related services.

It sells commemorative items and souvenirs linked to the town of Nový Jičín, a guide of the town, a map of the town and the surrounding area, post cards, tickets to cultural events, etc.

The TIC provides information and promotional materials, a cultural calendar, brochures and leaflets about the town in various language versions. It also provides free Internet to visitors.

At the close of 2011 the information centre prepared an interesting innovation for Nový Jičín residents and visitors to the town using funds from a grant by the Moravian-Silesian Region – a Mobile Guide. The Mobile Guide offers a completely new option of enjoying a visit to a site of tourist interest and enhances the experience of tours of the surrounding area. Visitors obtain information quickly, accurately and free of charge, even when the information centre is closed.

Users of the application will also welcome an extensive catalogue of accommodation, eating, sports and cultural facilities. All you need is a mobile telephone - simply switch your Bluetooth or WiFi on and the Mobile Guide will find its way to you automatically.

Another option is to download the guide using a code, which is part of the information leaflet you can find at the entrance to Laudon House.

The application is free of charge and available non-stop – both for downloading and subsequent use. It is also supported by nearly all types of available mobile phone.

So don’t forget to have your mobile phone’s Bluetooth switched as you walk around Masaryk Square so you can download the offered application.
