Born on November 30, 1873, in Nový Jičín into a family of lawyers. Prose writer, poet, author of socio-psychological prose, and literary critic. Known for her trilogy from the First World War period (Úder, Podzemní plameny, Tragická duha). Together with R. Svobodová, she edited the magazine Lípa. From 1926, Božena Benešová was a librarian at the YWCA (Young Women's Christian Association).
