Johann Hückel
* April 7, 1814 (Nový Jičín)
† January 14, 1880 (Nový Jičín)
J. Hückel was the son of Augustin Thomas Hückel, who took over the hat-making workshop after the death of his uncle Johann Nepomuk Hückel in 1835. In 1848, he merged it with his father's factory. He gradually sent his three sons to Europe to gain experience, from where they brought back new knowledge in hat manufacturing. In 1865, he began machine production of his products, the first of its kind in the Austrian monarchy. In 1868, he handed over the management of the hat factory to his sons, and from then on the company was called Hutfabrik Johann Hückel's Söhne. He then served as a technical advisor to the company until 1880. In 1877, he received the Golden Cross of Merit.
