Rudolf Weiss was a member of the city council, served on the board of directors of the Novojičín railway, and was a member of the foundation for the city hospital. Originally a souk manufactory run by Franz Jakob Weiss, he initiated the boom of the industry in Nový Jičín at the end of the 19th century.
