Our town has a rich history and many interesting facts and secrets that are often unknown even to locals, let alone visitors to Nový Jičín.

 

During a guided walk, you will visit the local urban conservation area with many important houses. The guide will tell you about their history and architecture in an engaging way. You will stroll around Masaryk Square, one of the most beautiful in our country, whose special feature is the loubí on all four sides. In the picturesque corners of Žerotínova and Kostelní Street, you will feel the romance of old times. You will also visit the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Its history dates back to the Middle Ages and the church is one of the most important spiritual places in the region. From the tower of the town hall, you will hear the harmonious tones of the chimes, which in Nový Jičín are perhaps the only Czech town to play an excerpt from Beethoven's Ode to Joy, the anthem of the European Union, at noon.
