Jan Šrámek Memorial Plaque
The commemorative plaque, designed by sculptor and carver Jan Zemánek, was unveiled by the Club of Natives and Friends of Nový Jičín on 7 September 2018 on the rectory building. It was blessed by P. Alois Peroutka in the presence of representatives of the town, the Roman Catholic parish and the general public. Nový Jičín was the first priestly residence of Msgr. Jan Šrámek (1870-1956), a prominent priest and politician who was held in internment by the communist regime from March 1948 until his death.
