The Hat Exhibition was established in 2011 to promote the hat-making tradition, which dates back to the 16th century in Nový Jičín.

This unique exhibition, dedicated to the technological process of hat production, is located on the first floor of the Visitor Centre. In addition to the main staircase, a lift provides step-free access. Tickets for the exhibition can be purchased at the Tourist Information Centre in the entrance area of the Visitor Centre.

Upon entering the exhibition, a clear graphic guide directs you along the tour route. In an engaging and entertaining way, you will discover the individual stages of the fascinating hat-making process. Thanks to the interactive features, you can enjoy a hands-on experience and uncover the secrets of how a hat is made, from the initial raw material to the finished and decorated product. You will also learn about the history of hat-making and, at the end of your visit, try your hand at being a hat designer in the creative workshop.

In 2019, graphic design students from Educa Secondary Vocational School created new wall decorations for the exhibition. Their designs complement the section dedicated to the local history of hat production. The decorations also feature characteristic motifs of Nový Jičín, as well as a lamp and a bench from the town’s historic centre.
